HMS is currently seeking a full time Technical Services Engineer to join a high performing international team. The Technical Services Engineer role will include two primary responsibilities.  The first being IT support. In this role the individual will support the IT tasks associated with a team of ~50 people in North America. This individual will be supported by the HMS Networks global IT team in Sweden.

The second responsibility will be to provide solution support for Industrial IoT systems. In this role the individual has the opportunity to learn about industrial IoT focused products from a leading company in the field. The engineer will have the opportunity to implement, test, and help develop various IoT communications projects. 

The Technical Services Engineer will join the Technical Services team and report directly to the Technical Services Manager.  The candidate may reside in either the Chicago, IL or Manchester, NH HMS office. This position requires less than 10% travel. 

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:
  • End-user support on clients, phones, local software and user account management
  • Server, system, and network maintenance through entire lifecycle, both hardware, and software.
  • Working on local and global projects
  • Work in the IT Service Desk systems with requests and incident tickets
  • Function as the local resource for Global IT
  • Learn about HMS IoT products and solutions and maintain strong technical knowledge
  • Work on assigned projects and self-manage tasks while being responsible for communicating status to the Technical Services Manager
  • Work with various HMS teams on custom development projects for the organization and its clients
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:
The candidate must have an interest in IT and Technology, be service-minded, and a problem solver. Must be able to work well in and outside of groups and be good at prioritizing.

Windows Clients
-Experience with Windows client OS and application deployment tools.
-Experience in problem solving windows clients
-Experience with PC accessories such as monitors, printers, and other devices.
-Experience working with O365, web portal, and PowerShell.
 
Phone/Tablets
-Experience with setting up, migrating and problem solve IOS and Android devices.
 
Windows Servers
-Experience managing Windows servers and systems such as File Servers, Application Servers and Web Servers.
-Basic understanding in Windows Infrastructure services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Radius, Certificate Authorities.
-Basic understanding in backup/restore procedures.
 
Networking/Infrastructure
-Basic understanding of networking. Switching and Routing, VPN, cabling, Wireless systems, and VOIP.
-Basic understanding with virtualization, VMware vSphere and VMware Workstation.
 
Local Vendors
-Experience managing local vendors. ISP, Telco, IT Hardware vendors.
 
Other
Experience or interest in cloud services, Azure/AWS preferred
Basic knowledge of IT security principles preferred
Scripting/Automation knowledge preferred
ITIL knowledge preferred
 
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field, preferred computer science or engineering. 
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a Corporate IT environment working on IT Projects and Solutions
