Fast‑track safety certification for new markets

Challenge

The customer’s industrial safety vision inspection system was already PL d certified, with safety inputs and outputs (I/O) implemented via optically isolated digital signals. However, the customer wanted to expand into North America and European markets, where end customers often require safety-certified communication. As a result, relying solely on hard wired safety I/O was no longer sufficient.

The challenge was to add support for the PROFIsafe, CIP Safety, and FSoE safety protocols within a short development timeframe, without redesigning the hardware.

Solution

HMS Industrial Networks delivered a complete, TÜV certified safety communication solution designed to balance functional safety with network flexibility:

• T100 Safety Hardware 
  An open and extensible development platform enabling implementation of PROFIsafe, CIP Safety, and FSoE safety protocols.
  
• Implemented with the Anybus CompactCom B40
  The Anybus CompactCom handles standard (non safety) industrial network communication (e.g., PROFINET) and transparently passes safety I/O signals to the T100 using the black channel principle. 
  
• Pre certified TÜV safety module = a real time saver
  As the T100 is TÜV pre certified, customers can simplify integration and safety validation, significantly reducing development effort and shortening time to market.

  Ensures efficient project execution and high quality technical collaboration.
